Juvederm Voluma at Krueger Aesthetics
What is Juvederm Voluma?
I’m Ronald A. Krueger, M.D from Krueger Aesthetics here in Mukilteo, WA, and I wanted to talk to you today about one of our favorite products, Voluma.
It’s part of the Allergan family of Juvederm products. The difference between these products is that they’re all made of the same component, hyaluronic acid, which, when we open this up and look at this syringe, is a clear gel-like fluid.
How is Juvederm Voluma different from other fillers?
A lot of fillers fill cracks and crevices or wrinkles. Here we’re trying to restore volume. As the face ages, particularly in females, we lose fat, lose bone with those other structures, and it’s the grape to raisin phenomenon.
We have the face starting to sink, creating the jowling, and it changes it from the beauty of a youthful face which is an inverted triangle, into more of a square or rectangular, heavier through this area.
So, before we start filling this area with anything else, we typically create structure here with a thicker injectable. That’s what the Voluma is for. It builds cheeks!
We build cheeks right along the existing bony structures restoring volume where volume has been lost previously.
Is Juvederm Voluma a frequently used injectable?
It has to be probably our most popular injectable that we start 80% of our patients with to build out this structure here and then come down here and use other fillers in this area.
The process is very simple, people come to the office, you are injected, and they drive themselves home straight from the office without any fuss.
