Jeuveau® is marketed as the “Newtox.” While it is undeniably newer than Botox® Cosmetic, many of our patients at Krueger Aesthetics in Mukilteo, Washington wonder if it’s better than Botox®.
Jeuveau® is within the same category of neurotoxin/neuromodulator treatments as Botox®. Other similar treatments that use injections include Dysport® and Xeomin®. They all work the same way; the product is applied through very fine needles into the precise muscles responsible for expression lines. The active ingredient or neurotoxin in these products then goes to work to disrupt the process that leads to the contraction of the muscles. When the targeted, treated muscles cannot contract, they cannot pull or stretch the skin. The skin stays nice and taut. The result is a softening of the forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines between the eyebrows, and more. They can also be used as a prejuvenation treatment to prevent wrinkles from forming in the first place.
All of the products mentioned above are slightly different in their production. There are also nuances in what our patients may experience or notice following treatment. For instance, the plant that manufactures Jeuveau® doesn’t manufacture any other products. The formulation itself is also subject to a very extensive and lengthy purification process. It contains fewer impurities and unnecessary additives. These can be important safety and quality features for some of our patients. Additionally, experts characterize it as a “fast-acting injectable.” It may be appropriate for patients who want to get results quickly, as the products kicks in around two weeks post-injection. This characteristic makes it an ideal option for those looking fresh and well-rested before big events, such as an upcoming wedding or class reunion. Our team has also noticed that results from treatment tend to last longer than with Botox®.
