Krueger Aesthetics has a long and storied history of providing Botox® and other neuromodulators to our neighbors in Mukilteo, Washington. In fact, our founder introduced this cosmetic treatment to Greater Seattle 25-plus years ago. However, Botox® isn’t just for cosmetic concerns like crow’s feet and frown lines. This injectable treatment originated in medical applications, specifically the treatment of uncontrolled blinking and spasming eye muscles. Botox® has evolved to treat additional medical conditions that can have an outsized impact on your quality of life, including hyperhidrosis.
This condition is characterized by excessive sweating. Botox® is FDA-approved to reduce chronic, excessive perspiration.
When we exercise, experience warm weather, or feel anxious, sweat helps regulate our body temperature. This fluid, primarily composed of water, is essential for preventing overheating and maintaining our health. However, some individuals face a different issue: their sweat glands may be overstimulated, causing them to sweat excessively even when they are calm and at rest. For those experiencing severe sweating, classified as levels “3” and “4” by the International Hyperhidrosis Society, Botox® can be an effective treatment option.
When OTC products and powerful prescription medications don’t work, it may be time to explore Botox® with Dr. Claire Murphy, an ER and aesthetic medicine physician who brings considerable knowledge to every treatment available at our office.
Botox® reduces excessive perspiration by blocking the nerves that trigger or stimulate the sweat-producing glands. Botox® is injected into the affected underarm regions with an ultra-fine and sterile needle. It only affects the treated sweat glands. You continue to sweat normally and in a healthy manner elsewhere.
Botox® does not require a series of initial treatments to get results. However, it does require some patience. Many who undergo treatment notice a significant reduction in sweating within four weeks.
Yes, it can, with repeated treatment. No injectable treatment supports permanent results. You will know when you need a “touch-up,” as your distressing symptoms will return. In studies, the results from Botox® lasted up to 201 days, nearly seven months! The vast majority of those studied (81%) experienced a greater than 50% reduction in sweating. The results are significant and dramatic, and can be truly life-changing.
It is a real privilege to partner with patients like you, who may feel that hyperhidrosis is taking over their lives. You deserve to take back control and feel your best.
